According to The Ottawa Journal on August 5, 1966, "CHOV in Pembroke, Ont., has banned the British group's records. Manager Bill Kay said the statement attributed to Lennon was in extremely bad taste."

CHOV eventually became CHVR and moved to an FM frequency. Because the station changed owners, call letters, band, and frequency, CHOV can be considered no longer broadcasting.
