According to the Alexandria Daily Town Talk on August 5, 1966, "KDBS radio's program director, Hank Lazarone said simply, 'We are not playing the Beatle records until further notice.' "

KDBS sometimes called itself "K-Dixie" (or "K-Dixie-B-S"). In 1966, the station had a gospel show called "Gospel Train" and would regularly broadcast local high school news.
