The Daily Times-News of Burlington on August 5, 1966 reported, "The movement [to ban the Beatles] started in Alabama, and E.Z. Jones of WBBB and Jack Starnes of WBAG here were among the first to join. No more Beatles, the station managers said."

In February 1966, WBAG was described in the Daily News-Times as "the station that plays go-go music." The station's slogan at the time was "The Happiest Sound in Dixie!"
