The Tampa Tribune reported on August 17, 1966: "Tampa's WTMP Radio Station still hasn't played a single Beatle record since the start of the Lennon-Christianity flap. And a WTMP spokesman said yesterday that what's more the ban is still on. Most teen-agers on the West Coast, their attention turned to newer fad bands, somehow don't seem to be in a great uproar over whether they hear the Beatles or not, he added. As a matter of fact, the Beatle records weren't doing so well in Tampa even before the [sic] John Lennon decided he was selling more records than the preachers are Bibles."
