The Associated Press (as printed in The Baltimore Sun on August 17, 1966) reported, "'We have been called intellectual slobs and religious bigots,' said Don Karnes, operations manager of Beatle-banning WCUM in Cumberland, Md. 'We have also been called saints, primarily by adult listeners.'"
