According to the Associated Press (as printed in The Spartanburg Herald on August 17, 1966), "WMTM in Moultrie, Ga., made a pyre of Beatle discs last Friday before a crowd of 200 teen-agers who were entertained by piped rock 'n' roll by other groups. WMTM said it had received about 1,800 communications on the controversy, and only 146 favored the Beatles."
