The Kingsport Times-News in Tennessee reported on August 7, 1966: "Chuck Newton, with Station WGAT in Gate City, said the mop-haired foursome should be banned from the country. 'We have banned the Beatles from our programming and they ought to stay out of the country,' said Newton. 'Even the teens around this area are going along with what I say--that the Beatles should be banned from the United States.' "
