According to the Winston-Salem Journal and Sentinel on August 7, 1966: "Three of Reidsville's teen-age disc jockeys took sledge hammers Thursday and smashed the entire collection of Beatle records at radio station WREV. They leveled a pile of several hundred records in the station lobby while E.M. Hurd, station manager, watched.... Both Reidsville radio stations have banned the Beatles. Station WFRC banned the group earlier last week. A telephone survey conducted by station WREV found no one opposing the ban. More than a hundred calls were made."
